Should I buy a new cordless tool every few years? We were wondering the same thing.
To find out, we put the old and new Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2763 impact wrenches through side-by-side tests. Here’s what we found:
In response to questions about long-term performance and power, our Pro tool reviewer tested a two-year-old Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2763 brushless ½-inch high-torque impact wrench against a new version of the same tool.
Looking at them side by side, they’re identical except for dirt, grease and a rubber protective boot on the older model. Other than that, these are clones of each other – both being the tried and true 2763.
This is one of the most powerful cordless impact wrenches on the market, and it’s designed to replace your pneumatic impact wrench.
Unlike corded impact wrenches, which typically are one speed, the Milwaukee 2763 has a variable-speed trigger. To apply max power – pull the trigger in fully.
If you need to “feather” it as you would a pneumatic impact wrench, you can do that too. Once you release the trigger, the electric brake stops the anvil almost instantly.
The 2763 has two different speed/power modes, which will allow you to use it in many situations where a single-speed impact wrench would not be safe to use. By using two modes (low torque/low rpm and high torque/high rpm), Milwaukee lets you quickly switch between them and pick the right one for the job.
